We know – life can be hard. And sometimes, things appear out of the blue that completely knock us off our feet.
Presenter and film-maker Hersha Patel knows this all too well. Last year, a few months after the first lockdown, she became the victim of a global shaming when a video of her cooking egg fried rice went viral for all the wrong reasons. She was accused of not knowing how to cook, being ‘a disgrace to Asian culture’ – even being racist. The odd comment became a torrent of abuse, and before she knew it, everything she’d worked so hard to achieve seemed to be in jeopardy.
When we face setbacks – whether it’s a global shaming, a pandemic or something more everyday – it can have a big impact on how we think and feel. It can also have significant consequences for our mental health. It can make it harder for us to focus, manage our relationships and just live our lives in the way we want.
In this webinar, we’ll be speaking to Hersha about her incredible story and exploring some of the ways that you can protect your mental health when things get tough. We’ll look at some of the unique challenges currently facing young people, from disrupted education and widespread uncertainty to the rise of social media, and what you can do to keep moving forwards, even when things don’t go to plan.
